the cello doctor

I took my cello into the shop for repairs. Some of the seams are splitting, it has a nasty wolf tone on the G string, and it was buzzing in the lower register. I wanted to get it repaired out here rather than Idaho. Luthier girl is H-O-T. Wowie. Anyway, I'll get the cello back on Saturday all fixed up. The repairs were WAY cheaper than I'd thought, only $40 for a wolf eliminator, straighten the end pin (why it was buzzing. end pin was vibrating against the sound post. bad bad bad), and glue the open seams. I wanted to have my bow re-haired, but its such a cheap bow that it isn't built so that it CAN be re-haired. So, I bought a nice german bow. I can't believe the difference. I had assumed that it was my lack of skill that made my staccato more like a pummeling than anything else. It was the bow. The new one dances on the string, great bounce and immediate response. Beautiful. And it should be for $280!!

Helsinki, Take 2

Richard is going to Helsinki next Monday - Thursday. That means I get to sleep in the bed :) Too bad for him that he won't really have a chance to sightsee. Too much work he says. He really works a lot anymore. Long hours and all. I guess its his coping mechanism.

Our papers got filed on Tuesday. It should be final in about 6 weeks all going smoothly.

Still no offers on the house. I'm starting to get nervous about selling in time for a July move.

I put a "friendship" ad up on yahoo (pocatello area). One person has responded and she seems nice. She looks familiar. Could be we went to school together I guess.

alternative lifestyles?

What an odd situation I am in. Richard and I are still living together, still technically married, and yet he and I are both in the dating realm. I have a date on Wednesday with Barbara, which he knows about and supports, and he had a date (she cancelled last minute) last week and the one during the last open house (different women). The weirdest part is that we both are ok with it all. Very strange situation though, doncha think?

Anyway, lots of traffic on the house this weekend, but no offers so far. We fixed up the front yard gardens (flower bed border, spring annuals, fresh mulch etc), improved the first impression aspect.

Waiting on Kirk to submit his proof of residence to UW so Ed's status can be changed from non-resident to resident. makes about a $15,000/year difference in tuition.

Ed failed a test! Alert the press! He took his driving exam (written) and failed it. He'll try again next saturday.

Sandy is still sleeping with me, going on 2 weeks now. She had her first therapy appointment last Friday. She said it went well. She'll go again this Friday. Therapist says she meets the "depression" criteria but we're going to try just therapy before drugs for at least a couple weeks anyway. Lotsa changes in the girl's life and she internalizes everything (chip off the block). Meanwhile, I'm about done with therapy I think. Might call it quits after my next session. Marilyn thinks I'm coping well enough now to go it alone.

stupid people need to watch their kids

Open house yesterday was crap, only a few people and no offers. One of the people brought their 4 year old along and the kid busted several of the pysanky eggs that Sandy and I made.

Anyway, richard went on a lunch/movie date during the open house and I took the kids to the Liberty Science Center. We had a great time, saw an Imax movie and the robotics exhibition. I'm really enjoying my "dates" with the kids during the open houses. Next time I think we'll go to one of the museums in NYC, maybe the Museum of Natural History.
