Not Yet 40

I'm 38 years old now. Amazing. I had a good birthday. Didn't eat one damn thing that was on my diet. Mwahahahahaha. I had donuts and coffee for breakfast. Lo Mein and fried rice for lunch with an actual non diet COKE and honey fried chicken with fries for dinner with another actual non diet COKE. Chocolate layer cake for dessert. I'm absolutely ill this morning and bloated to hell and back. UGH. I'm actually dizzy. I'm probably having some kind of glucose trauma carb coma episode. Or it could be the stiletto heels I got for my birthday making me dizzy. Sky high forest green suede stiletto mules. GAWGEOUS. Gail gave me a gift certificate and I chose sexy shoes :D It was my birthday, after all. Of course, I can't actually WALK in them, but that's not the point.

Last Step

I'm down to a meager 7mg/day nicotine starting today. This is the last step of patches and I do this for two weeks. Then I'm done. A non-smoker, can you imagine? I'm feeling a little tense, but you know by this time that's probably mostly psychological.

Ed might want to attend University of Washington. Kirk put some ideas about living with him while he went to school in his head. I think the university is a good choice, it's somewhat competitive and an excellent school. I told Ed that for at least the first two years, no matter where he goes to school, that he needs to be living in dorms. College is about more than academics, after all, and he needs to have the whole college experience. The good news about Uni Wash is that because we'll still be claiming Ed as a dependent while he goes to school, he can get resident tuition rates in Washington because his dad lives there.that saves about 15 grand ;)

Soy Nuts and their addictive properties

I have found my new favorite snack food. They are Soy Nuts. Deep Sea Salted in particular. So crunchy. mmmmmmmm

Slow day today. Gail went on vacation and I've already finished all my real work. Only busy work remains.

My co-worker got a regular cell phone (as opposed to virgin mobile pre-pay) so she gave me her old phone, which is newer than mine, and way sexier. It's so tiny and is one of those flip open kind and can use the polyphonic ring tones instead of the tinny monophonic ring tones. It has voice recognition and a speaker phone function for hands free :) Its very cool. Today's ring tone is Monty Python's Bright Side of LIfe. I had a hard time choosing, Mambo Italiano or dueling banjos or Monty Python. Leisl made my mind up with her observation that Life's a piece of shit... when you look at it.... and I thought to myself, Self, that's classic Monty Python and itd be a shame not to hear it more often. So, Bright Side of Life it is.

I'm walking in the Walk to Cure Diabetes next month and digging up sponsors. I think Richard is going to walk with me, maybe the kids too. It'd be nice to do it as a family, but Richard doesn't really want to if the kids do it because he says they'll be whining by the time we're out of the parking lot. He's probably right, but maybe not. (eternally optimistic, I am)

Richard is looking at a job in Mt. Laurel. Means we would have to move because its too far to commute. Houses are less expensive out there (our mortgage is turning out to be more than we can chew comfortably). I could possibly work just part time and be home when the kids get home from school between smaller mortgage and larger pay for Richard. It's also close to Philly, and as such, close to Sheila. 100% of high schoolers there graduate and 89% go on to college. (those are really stellar stats!) Those are the pros (basically). The cons are Ed changing schools mid senior year (the kids changing schools and friends in general really) and I really love the house we're in. Might all be moot if they don't want him or he finds out they won't pay what he wants. Wait and see, I guess.

The bathtub is leaking again. This will be the third time I've had to cut that hole in the kitchen ceiling. We should just make it a trap door. grrrr. I am beginning to think we have been refusing the see the elephant in the room. The tub and plumbing needs to be taken out and replaced and/or repaired properly. So much for getting the driveway paved :( No snow blower for me :(

And the woodchucks won't die.

Need ..... More ..... Nicotine

I stepped down my patch yesterday. I'd gotten so used to not having actual nicotine cravings. I forgot how annoying they are. Still, its better than cold turkey cravings! Yikes! So, 2 weeks at step 2 then 2 more at step 3 then I'm nicotine free. I have to admit that I'm a-wanting one now!

Also, all the way up to 170 after vaca. That sucks rocks. I'm back on induction now though and hopefully can lose that 10 I gained since quitting smoking, and then some more :)

Had a great vacation, enjoyed seeing Kelly and the family. Wish I lived closer to them all. It's rainy/drizzly/hot and humid as all hell here. I miss the west coast!
