R&R

This is my last weekend before the move that isn't crowded with a to-do list. I am taking advantage of it. Today is a day of beauty, although that would not be apparent if you saw me right now. I have a clay mask on my face and dye in my hair. I'm going to give myself a manicure and pedicure later. I have a chilled glass of my favorite pinot grigio and the sun is shining. ah, bliss.

Later Richard is going to Lori's for dinner and then a movie. I might drop the kids to see Star Wars, go home and watch Roman Holiday and eat chocolate. Perfect. I plan to play my cello until the Die Fledermaus waltz stanza no longer intimidates me.

I love weekends like this. They're especially nice because I have so few of them.

Life is Sweet.

Me! All on my own

I'm pre-approved for a mortgage! Unbelievable. Me, all on my own, without relying on anyone elses income. Amazing. Richard isn't even going to ruin it for me with his "wow, I'm surprised you got that interest rate. You must be having to pay points". No... I got a mortgage, no points at a decent interest rate. I am not a loser and am completely capable of taking care of myself and having my very own successes in life. All on my own, thank you.

planning

I have an appointment with Volt a week from Thursday for interview and skills testing. Andrea is a friend of one of the headhunters, Rebecca, and introduced me. She says she can get me a good position no problem, and temp work if I need it until then.

Talked with a realtor who referred me to a couple of lenders that specialize in new home buyers without fantastic credit. One with Wells Fargo and the other one with Countrywide. I'll call them tonight to see what I need to do to get pre-approved and if its even possible without a job lined up. I'll look at places with Patty, the realtor, while I'm out there next week. There are a few lease with options that I might consider if I can't get pre-approval.

I forgot I have AAA. I sent them an email and they will map out the drive to Boise, with stops at Best Westerns about every 8 hours.

Container is reserved for delivery June 24 and pick up June 27. Will have to stay in a hotel here June 27 and 28, unless the closing is first thing in the morning, in which case I'll leave on the 28th instead of the 29th. My first stop is Pittsburgh to see Dave and Susan Sparks, that's only about 6 hours.

Whew. It sure helps to see in typeface all the stuff I *have* dealt with. Puts into perspective the feeling that I have so much left to do. I'm fine and on track. Thank God.

offers

Got an offer on the house and we're through attorney review. Inspector came this week, but we haven't heard anything from the buyers. Maybe they don't have any "issues"... very unlikely I think, though.

I've ordered a container for the move. They'll drop it off on June 24th (Ed's graduation), pick it up on Monday, June 27th and take it to Boise. The kids and I will drive out leaving here on the 29th, probably arrive in Boise late on July 1. The shipper figures it'll only take a week before I have to take delivery of my stuff, so that's about July 6th. Everybody will be gone to Cali, so I guess I'll unload my shit myself. Richard isn't going to help load, so I guess we'll load the container ourselves too. Nothing I haven't done before. Hopefully I'll be able to find a place to live while I'm in Boise June 1-5. ... and a job. If I can't get pre-qualified for a home loan I'll rent a place while I find work and look for a house to buy. Might be a better idea anyway.

Anyway, .... away we go.

Sheep Farmers

I've been chatting with sheep farmer from outside Boise. She's a lot of fun to talk to and not half bad looking either. She has sheep because she raises sheep dogs (border collie looking kind) and needs the livestock to train the dogs. Her day job is "writer". Not novels or anything. She writes for blue cross, annual reports and stuff. Also writes for newspapers sometimes. Interesting woman.

Still no offers on the house, but I have a docket number for the divorce now. I talked to the clerk and apparently there is way to go about it where I won't have to pay the appearance fee. I just have to file a Consent to Entry with the Judgment. Still is going to take another month at least though.

Horse hair heaven

I got my cello back on Saturday. Damn it sounds good. Plays like it never has, too. I couldn't get enough of it this weekend. Beautiful.

Open house got about 9 people through it. Blah Blah Blah no offers. Show me the money, as they say.

Mondays suck. I can't find my desk. There ought to be a law against attorneys working on the weekend
